Online VHF Marine radio (SRC) course

A VHF radio is very important piece of safety equipemnt on boats!

The VHF Marine radio is an international open communication system and it is vital to understand the rules and correct procedures . By law any operator of a VHF marine radio or DSC equipment must be holder of an appropriate qualification. The short range certification is the minimum qualification on any yacht voluntarily fitted with a VHF/DSC radio.

Minimum age 16
Course content the basics of VHF/DSC Marine radio operation
the use of correct frequencies (channels)
procedures for distress, emergency and medical assistance calls
making ship to shore calls
using Digital Selective Calling (DSC) simulators
understanding the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)
the use of an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB)
the use a Search and Rescue radar transponder (SART)
Certification Maritime radio operator certificate of competence – Short range certificate issued by the RYA on behalf of the MCA (UK)
Examination After the course , there is On line examination for the course completion certificate which is required to come to the final practical exam
Final written and Practical examination at the RYA school on real training radio’s with an RYA assessor ( duration approx 60 minutes )
Minimum duration The on line course takes between 6 to 8 hours

100 € for the online course per person to be paid to the RYA school

The online SRC course and taster have the following minimum technical requirements:

Internet connection (broadband or 3G). Charges may apply for 3G
1024 x 768 screen resolution - this must be available screen space (menu bars, docks or task bars may conceal part of the course window on smaller screens)
Microphone and speakers/headphones

Platform specific minimum requirements:

Mac Intel processor OS X 10.7 (Lion) or above.
PC Windows Vista Service Pack 2
1 GHz (x86) processor 512 MB RAM
Sound card.
Quicktime (for viewing videos) available here. Netbooks are not supported due to the reduced screen resolution.
iPad / iPad Mini iOS 6 or above. Older generation iPads may have performance issues

HOW TO BOOK A ONLINE VHF/SRC COURSE INCLUDING THE EXAM?

STEP BY STEP

  1. Have a look on the introductory video
  2. Make sure your computer is compatible with the online course by trying the taster
  3. Book the online course at vedran.mandura@ncp.hr. We will send you an invoice by mail
  4. After we receive your payment we will send you a link, a username and password
  5. We will send you a course pack , but you don't need to wait for this to start your course
  6. You complete the course and do the online pre-exam knowledge check (Maximum 3 attempts)
  7. Download your course completion certificate
  8. Book your VHF/SRC practical exam at NCP mail : vedran.mandura@ncp.hr
  9. Pay the fee for the final exam directly online to the RYA at this link https://www.rya.org.uk/exam-payments/Pages/hub.aspx . Bring copy of the online payment confirmation to the exam .
  10. Do the written and practical exam on real training radio’s with an RYA assessor
  11. On successful completion of the assessment (practical & written paper) the VHF application form will be sent to the RYA along with your passport photo and

The RYA certification department will then post your RYA VHF certificate directly to you. ( 4 to 6 weeks later )

Note: The operator’s licence (Short Range Certificate) you will receive is for Class D VHF/DSC radios, the type fitted to most leisure craft. It is generally internationally accepted, but to operate a radio on a non British flagged boats craft you should contact the appropriate national authority.

To enable access to your online course we need to share some of your personal data with the RYA via your user profile in www.ryainteractive.org.
This learning management website is hosted and maintained by a third party called Learning Pool, who will not use your personal information for any reason other than enabling your course.

Your name and email address will be entered on www.ryainteractive.org in order to create your user account. On your first access to the site, you will be asked to enter your address and date of birth. You will have access to the site for one year in order to complete your online course. During this period, your personal information will be held on the website by Learning Pool and be available to this training centre and the RYA for the purpose of managing your course.

Instructional support will be provided by this training centre for a period of [***enter your support period here***] from the date of your course booking.

On completion of your course, your name, email, date of birth and address will be transferred to the RYA's central database for the purpose of recording details of the course and any certification you gain as a result of it. This information allows the RYA to record your certification, to update any records they may already hold about you or your qualifications and to verify your certificate if required. After one year from the date of your enrolment on the course, your user account will be removed from www.ryainteractive.org. Full details of how the RYA will deal with your personal information will be displayed when you first access www.ryainteractive.org.

Hallo liebes NCP Team, ich will mich für die zwei großartigen Segelwochen bei euch bedanken.
Das Jahr war ja schwierig, aber glücklicherweise konnten wir beide geplanten Wochen segeln gehen – auch wenn die zweite nur mit einem statt zwei Booten.

Hier ist gleich das erste Danke:
Vielen Dank für die Unterstützung beim Covid-Test in Sibenik, vielen vielen Dank für die tolle Betreuung von den supernetten Damen im Office – es ist immer wieder ein Vergnügen mit Ihnen die Papierarbeit zu machen und ein bisschen zu tratschen, vielen Dank für die Geduld mit uns Urlaubern, vielen Dank auch, das sie uns die verlorenen Papiere nachgesendet haben, vielen Dank für die Routenaufzeichnung.

Hier das zweite Danke:
Aber auch eure Bootsskipper sind wirklich toll – ich habe schon einiges an Erfahrung mit Charter in Kroatien – euro Bootsskipper kennen ihre Schiffe wirklich gut, die Übergabe funktioniert superprofessionell, so schnell und unkompliziert wie Möglich aber so genau und detailliert wie nötig. Wenn doch mal etwas passiert wird genau unterschieden ob es kaputtgegangen ist oder ob es kaputt gemacht oder verloren wurde – auch das ist weit über dem Standard bei den Vercharterern, dort wird nicht unterschieden ob kaputt gegangen oder kaputt gemacht.
Die Boote – ich hatte heuer die Grand Soleil 45 Pingala und die Dufour 382 Major Tom, die letzten Jahre die Dufour 412 Amazing sind alle in einem tollen Zustand, auch gegen Ende der Saison, super gepflegt, toll gereinigt – alles repariert, alles gepflegt – die Segel immer in einem sehr guten Zustand – bei der Pingala heuer mit neuer Genua, aber auch die anderen Segel sind sehr gepflegt. Alle Sicherheits und Segelrelevanten Teile super gewartet, die Bootsskipper notieren alle Rückmeldungen und alles wird gleich gefixt! Und, für echte Segler wie uns: Es gibt für viele Schiffe Gennaker oder Spinaker mit guter Leinenausrüstung und viele Schiffe mit Lattengroß, nicht nur die Rollsegel – Ihr denkt auch an echte Segler! Das einzige was ich bemerkt habe waren die Winschkurbeln waren am Ende der Saison nicht mehr so toll, aber auch da habe ich im Juni für die Pingala sofort nach Nachfrage eine neue bekommen! Vielen Dank nocheinmal und ich freue mich aufs nächste Jahr segeln – sicher wieder bei euch!

We would like to thank all the team at NCP for the fantastic service we received during our 2019 Croatia sailing holiday.
From start to finish everything has been first class; Katarina, Antonia and Sandra were really efficient, professional and friendly during initial enquiry to booking and then check in at the Marina. The boat was really immaculate upon delivery, everything in perfect working order. All cleaning team, skipper Ratko and all other staff on the pier C responsive and competent.
We especially appreciated the welcome pack consisting of locally products, wine, biscuits etc all delicious. BRAVI BRAVI BRAVI!!!
We cannot wait to return!
